DAY 01 – GUWAHATI ARRIVAL – BHALUKPONG
Meet and greet on arrival at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station and transfer to Bhalukpong – a small border town located on the southern reaches of the Himalayas by the Kameng River. The distance is approximately 220-250 km. The drive takes through the scenic highways of Assam, with views of lush green fields. En route pay visit to Maha Mrityunjay Temple renowned for housing the world’s largest Shivalinga, standing at 126 feet tall. Upon arrival, check into your hotel or resort. Overnight stay at Bhalukpong.
DAY 02 – BHALUKPONG – DIRANG
Start the journey early from Bhalukpong after breakfast to make the most of daylight and good road conditions. You will officially enter Arunachal Pradesh on this day. The drive features beautiful landscapes, waterfalls, and the Kameng River. Visit Tipi Orchidarium located on the banks of the Kameng river. Arrive in Dirang, a picturesque valley town situated at an elevation of around 4,910 ft. After checking into your hotel or homestay, you can relax and explore the local area, which is known for its Kiwi and Apple orchards. You might also visit the Dirang Dzong (fortress) if time permits. Overnight stay at Dirang.
DAY 03 – DIRANG – TAWANG
After Breakfast, check out from hotel and proceed to Tawang. You will go through one of the highest motorable Pass of Northeast India- The Sela Pass (13700 ft.). The approach to Sela is usually marked by fog and hilly imperfect roads. En-route you will also cover Nuranang Waterfalls and Jaswant Garh War Memorial. It has been remembered for times of war (1962 Indo Chinese war). Overnight stay at Tawang.
DAY 04 – TAWANG LOCAL SIGHTSEEING
After breakfast visit of 400 years (17th century) old Tawang Monastery which is the second largest monastery in the world after Potala Palace in Tibet. The building is about 113 feet long and 80 feet wide and houses valuable antiquities, books and manuscripts-handwritten and printed. Later visit Tawang War Memorial, a 40 foot high multi-hued memorial, has a structure constructed in stupa design. Dedicated to the martyrs of Sino-Indo War held in 1962, this memorial is nestled among beautiful peaks, which overlooks the Tawang-Chu valley. Rest of the day free to stroll round the streets of the town. Overnight in Tawang.
DAY 05 – SANGETSAR TSO & BUM-LA EXCURSION
Depart early from your hotel to maximize your time. Stop at Panga Teng Tso (PT Tso) -a serene high-altitude lake (approx. 13,700 ft) surrounded by alpine vegetation. It’s a perfect spot for photography before the final steep ascent. Head to Bum La Pass first. Stand at the Indo-China Border (Line of Actual Control). Photography is strictly prohibited at the actual border line, though some designated tourist spots allow photos. Later proceed to Sangetsar Tso, popularly known as the Madhuri Lake. This breathtaking lake formed by a 1950 earthquake. Walk among the dead tree trunks standing in the water and visit the small Army-run cafeteria for hot Maggi and tea. Begin the descent back to Tawang by late afternoon.
DAY 06 – TAWANG – BOMDILA
After breakfast, you will drive straight to Bomdila. En-route, you may enjoy sightseeing of the local places in Bomdila. The Buddhist Monasteries, Craft center are some places you would like to visit. On arrival, check-in to your hotel. Overnight stay at Bomdila.
DAY 07 – BOMDILA – GUWAHATI
After breakfast check out from the hotel and depart for Guwahati. The distance is approximately 345-350 km. In the evening you may visit the newly built Brahmaputra River Front if time permits. Overnight stay at Guwahati.
DAY 08 – GUWAHATI DEPARTURE
The long but memorable trip comes to an end today. Check-out of your hotel & proceed to Guwahati Airport / Railway Station. En route visit the Purva Tirupati Sri Balaji Temple if time permits. Take your Flight / Train back home.
