DAY 01 – CHENNAI ARRIVAL – TIRUPATI TRANSFER
Meet & Greet with our executive upon arrival in Chennai Airport / Railway Station and transfer to Tirupati. Home to famous and important Vaishnavite shrine of Tirumala Venkateswara Temple atop one of the the 7 peaks of Tirumala Hills. On arrival at Tirupati, check in to the hotel and relax for some time. Afternoon after Lunch, proceed for Half day sight seeing at Tirupati. Visit Padmavathi Temple at Tirachanoor. Padmavathi Temple is the temple dedicated to Goddess Padmavathi or Alamelumanga. Then visit Kapila Theertham and Kapileshwara Temple, ISKCON Temple and Govindarajaswamy Temple. Return to the Hotel. Overnight stay at Tirupati.
DAY 02 – TIRUPATI – MAHABALIPURAM VIA KANCHIPURAM
This morning drive to Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram used to be the capital of early Chola dynasty during the BC’s and later during the Pallava and Vijayanagara empires. This town is also one of Hinduism`s seven most sacred cities and this “Golden City of a Thousand Temples”. Only around 70 temples of the original temple complex are still intact and the most famous is the Kailasanatha Temple built of sandstone in the early seventh century. Visit Vardharaja Perumal Temple, Ekambareswarar Temple, Kamakshi Amman Temple and Ulaganatha Perumal Temple. Therein, proceed to Mahabalipuram and check in to the hotel. Overnight stay at Mahabalipuram.
DAY 03 – MAHABALIPURAM SIGHTSEEING
Today dedicated to full day exploration of Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is probably the most important historic town in the Coromondal Coast. Visit the Sea Shore Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Vishnu, and then the famous Five Rathas, “Five Chariots”, a monolithic structure representing an unique style built by the Pallavas. Therein visit the Arjuna’s Penance, Varaha Cave and Krishna’s Butter Ball. Also have a walk in the artisan’s streets who makes stone sculptures. Overnight stay at Mahabalipuram.
DAY 04 – MAHABALIPURAM – PONDICHERRY
This morning drive to Pondicherry, quite an impressive city lined with colonial structure. Pondicherry is also known as “la Côte d`Azur de l`Est”, translating to the French Riviera of the East. You may visit Auroville – a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realise human unity. Evening at leisure. You may enjoy some strolls in the so called White town or French side of old quarters. Overnight stay at Pondicherry.
DAY 05 – PONDICHERRY – THANJAVUR
Morning drive to Tanjore (Thanjavur). Tanjore has such an important place in the history of South India. An early capital of the Chola empire. from the 9th to the 11th century, it kept its importance during the Vijayanagar, Maratha, and British periods. The city is also known for a distinctive painting style—in which such materials as gold foil, lace, and semiprecious stones are used to embellish the painting—and for a style of embossed metal plates. Tanjore is also called the Rice Bowl of Tamil Nadu. Overnight stay at Thanjavur.
DAY 06 – THANJAVUR SIGHTSEEING & TRICHY EXCURSION
Early morning, pay your visit to the Brihadeeshwara Temple, one among the finest temples to visit in India. Next visit the Thanjavur Maratha Palace Complex, known locally as Aranmanai, is the official residence of the Bhonsle family who ruled over the Tanjore region from 1674 to 1855. Another attraction is Saraswathi Mahal Library which has on display a rare collection of Palm leaf manuscripts and papers written in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Marathi English and a few other languages indigenous to India.
Drive to the city of Tiruchirappalli better known as Trichy, which has it known history since 3C BC. Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple within Srirangam Temple Complex here, situated in an ethereal setting on the island of Srirangam that is bounded by the two rivers of Kaveri and Kollidam, is considered among one of the largest functioning Temple (together with Angkor Vat etc) complex in the world. Or you may visit the famoust trichy icon Arulmigu Thayu Manavar (Shivan)Temple popularly known as Rock Fort and Arulmigu Jambukeswarar Temple known as Thiruvanai Kovil. Drive back and overnight stay at Thanjavur.
DAY 07 – THANJAVUR – MADURAI
Today, drive to Madurai. Locals refer to Madurai as “Thoonga Nagaram” or “the city that never sleeps“. Upon arrival, check in to hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Evening, you may visit the Meenakshi Temple for a very special night ceremony (If possible). Overnight stay at Madurai.
DAY 08 – MADURAI SIGHTSEEING
Morning, visit the Sri Meenakshi Temple which is nearly synonymous with Madurai and is a magnificent piece of Dravidian architecture. The Thousand Pillars Hall is another stunning edifice. Also visit the Thirumalai Naykkar Palace. Visit the Madurai flower market. Later in the afternoon, drive out of the city and visit the Thiruppurakundram Temple, which is a charming visit. The temple is situated atop a rocky hill and one has to climb steps to get to the temple, but the effort is worth it as this temple and premises has a genuine kind of life which is very charming. Overnight stay at Madurai.
DAY 09 – MADURAI – RAMESHWARAM
Today morning, drive to the holy island town of Rameshwaram. On the way, stop and take photos at the spectacular Pamban Bridge, India’s historic sea bridge. Check into your hotel on arrival. Later visit the APJ Abdul Kalam National Memorial to see the late president’s life exhibits. Evening, relax at Agni Theertham Beach. Visit the nearby Panchamukhi Hanuman Temple. Stay overnight in Rameshwaram.
DAY 10 – RAMESHWARAM & DHANUSHKODI
Today early morning, head to the Ramanathaswamy Temple. Many devotees follow the age old tradition of bathing in the 22 sacred indoor water wells before entering the main inner sanctum. After darshan, drive to Dhanushkodi, a ghost town destroyed by a 1964 cyclone. See the ruins of the church and railway station. In the evening, witness the sunset at Land’s End, where the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal meet. Stay overnight in Rameshwaram.
DAY 11 – RAMESHWARAM – KANYAKUMARI
Today take an early 300 km coastal road trip down to Kanyakumari. Stop by the multi-tiered Suchindram Thanumalayan Temple on your way into town. Check into your hotel. Head to Sunset Point in the evening or the beachfront to watch the sun go down over the ocean. Stay overnight in Kanyakumari.
DAY 12 – KANYAKUMARI EXPLORATION & DEPARTURE
Wake up very early & catch the sunrise at the Kanyakumari seashore, where three oceans merge. Take the short ferry ride to the offshore Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the grand Thiruvalluvar Statue. Return & Check out from your hotel. Visit the orange-hued Kanyakumari Amman Temple and the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial shell. After lunch, head to Kanyakumari Station or drive to Trivandrum Airport for your journey home.
